A Novel DC Ice-melting Device Based on MMC with Hybrid Sub-module
According to the demand of ice-melting and dynamic reactive power compensation of power grid, a new design scheme for ice-melting device of MMC based on hybrid sub-module is proposed in this paper, in which half-bridge and full-bridge sub-modules arecoordinated. Then, the method of calculating the number of half-bridge and full-bridge sub-modules is introduced for continuously adjusting the DC voltage of ice-melting device, and it can save up to 1/6 power switches compared with full-bridge MMC, and a capacitor voltage balancing strategy for hybrid sub-modules is also proposed. Finally, the simulation model is validated by PSCAD/EMTDC software, the simulation results verify the correctness and validity of the proposed topology and control method.
