SMES-FCL Capacity Optimization for Improving LVRT Ability of Wind Farm Integrated System

Abstract

Aiming at the initial energy storage capacity optimization of SMES-FCL for suppressing the fluctuation of wind power output and improving low voltage ride through(LVRT) performance, integrated configuration of SMES-FCL used in doubly fed induction generator(DFIG) integrated system is studied from the perspective of stable operation and economical efficiency. The evaluation index of DFIG’s LVRT capability is presented, economic costs is taken into account and the multi-objective optimization model of magnetic energy storage capacity is established. NSGA-II algorithm is used to solve the optimal magnet capacity that meets the research target. Comparing the performance with SMES,the simulation results show that SMES-FCL can improve the economy of superconducting magnet compared with SMES.
